At the spring meeting of The Society of Liverpool Golf
Captains held at Southport & Ainsdale Golf Club on Wednesday
3/6/09, David Morris, one of the past captains of Dean Wood
was elected to be Captain of the society for the 2009 / 2010
year. This is the second time during the the life of our
club that a past captain of Dean Wood has been given the
honour of this position, The previous member being Norman
Whittaker in 1990. As part of his acceptance speech David
said he considered this as an honour for Dean Wood Golf Club
and thanked all of the club's membership for their support
over the years in allowing him the opportunity to take up
this position. I am sure we all wish David a successful year
and will continue with our support for him.
In the golf competition played on a much shortened course
our current Captain (G.Simpkin) gained 2nd place in the
individual prize with a very creditable 43 points, The
winner being a member of S & A. Our team came third in the
overall team prize, being narrowly beaten by Haydock Park
for 2nd place with the winners being the host club Southport
and Ainsdale. |

of three foursome pairs. The winning scores were recorded
